History:

Save the Image was founded in 2003, originally based in the Washington DC Metro area. Our core services provide digital scanning and archiving of photographs, slides, negatives, movie film, and video tape. As the company began to expand, we began to explore different areas where we could continue growing the business.

We discovered Portland, Maine. Most people think of lobsters and snow when they think of Maine. Yet, there is so much more to this incredible place. A unique blend of elements make Portland a great place to grow a business. It offers a highly skilled work force, excellent quality of life, with a world class art scene. This means for our clients that we can continue to offer great service, high quality transfers, at an affordable price. All work is done in-house by a dedicated group of individuals. No work is ever sent over-seas.

Technology and Process
Technology and the equipment available for archiving continually improves. Save the Image consistently reinvests in new equipment, processes and software to ensure high quality efficient transfers and conversions. There is not one right way to digitize analog media and each component in the process is very important.

This includes:

• a clean, well organized work flow
• individual review of each order to note non-standard issues or requirements
• choosing the most appropriate equipment and process
• using well maintained, clean equipment
  
• minimal handling of the media
